Overseas Directors

Namaste (Greetings),

We thank God for His work in our lives. I was born and raised in India. Serving faithfully alongside of my husband has allowed me to see the plight of the orphans in my country; however, I became numb to the orphan crisis and never thought about the possibility of caring for children who desperately needed love and a caring home.

God’s heart for the orphan child captured my heart, and I became overwhelmed by the thought of caring for them.  In 2004, I traveled to Chennai to visit a little orphan girl.  As she reached for my check and kissed it, the desire to help meet the needs of these children in my country was ignited.  This little girl would soon be adopted by Gene and Cheryl Witte, our friends and founders of Children’s Opportunity Foundation.

IreneIn February of 2005, we rejoiced in the partnership and formation of Children’s Opportunity Foundation.

In May of 2005, the Lord brought the first five children to us. Chandini, Aman, Roshini, Ganesh, and Deepak.  They were (eleven, seven, six, five, and three.)

All of these children were from the slums of Mumbai. Their fathers had died and they were living with their mothers in shacks. Lacking proper nutrition and education, they arrived on our doorstep with one pair of clothes and no shoes. By God’s grace and the help of COF (Children’s Opportunity Foundation), these children are now living with us and we are providing their physical, spiritual, educational and social needs.

We have named our children’s home, Bethesda Children’s Home, which means House of Mercy. We want to make a difference in the lives of these children, helping them see how much God loves them.

Thank you for your interest in our ministry.  You can make a difference in the lives of children who were once living in the slums, but now have a safe, loving place to call home.
